On Tuesday of this week each group had to present their research. It was definitely interesting to hear the different things each group chose as their focus. Many groups had very inspiring and interesting presentations.
April created a presentation on behalf of the group showcasing
our research into Nefertiti. We explained to the other groups about our
interest about the object and about its historical significance. We also talked
about our ideas surrounding the object and the direction we wanted to take as a
group.
Later on, one member from each group was called to the front
of the room. The tutors explained that this is where to the main theme of Unit
X: ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ would come into play. We each received an envelope
with a name or object in it. Our group received Deirdre Barlow from Coronation
Street (which sparked a few laughs) and immediately our group began to panic
about what connection we could find between these two, seemingly opposite,
figures.
Nefertiti who represents beauty, ancient history and
Egyptian culture versus the smokaholic coronation street star, Deirdre Barlow.
Although at first we were puzzled, we tried our best to
brainstorm ideas about possible connections and although it wasn’t direct; we
managed to find a couple of interesting connections. April had multiple
different ideas for the different ways in which both of these two are related.
Finally, it was time for Easter break (woo) but we were
quickly told there’d be an Easter task (…oh). We were told to investigate both
of the figures and brainstorm connections.
